Dhoni to lead Indian team to T20 World Cup


India today named a 15-member team, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain, for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup to be held in England next month .

The team sees the return of pace bowler R P Singh, obviously as a reward for the consistency of his performances in the ongoing India Premier League in South Africa, while another speedster, Munaf Patel, has been dropped.

The following is the team announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI): M S Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar, R P Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Pragyan Ojha and Irfan Pathan.

India had won the inaugural T20 championship in South Africa in 2007.

The final 15 was selected from an original shortlist of 30 players announced by the Board earlier.
